With the Thanksgiving holiday on the horizon this week, we’re grateful for the support staff who take incoming calls, manage client support requests, and keep technology running for our clients.
Meet Annette Marquez, Client Services Support Specialist II. Annette has called ZAG home for more than 10 years, handling overnight requests that the Client Services team receives from clients. In her role, she’s responsible for making sure someone is available to assist clients beyond the traditional 9-to-5.
Here, we hear from Annette about her role, how she came to work at ZAG, and how family means everything:
Where do you live?
Morgan Hill, CA
Why did you decide to join ZAG?
I was contacted by someone at ZAG to interview for the help desk. Ultimately, it turned out to be a better fit for me than the role I had at the time.
What are the responsibilities you have in your role at ZAG?
I work the overnight shift for Client Services, handling late-night service requests from our clients. (There are a few ZAG employees that may have received a late-night phone call from me when your assistance was needed.)
How would you describe your job to a class of kindergartners?
I might be the person you would call when your video is not loading on your tablet.
What would you be doing for a career if you weren’t in IT?
I like to garden, so I would love to work in a nursery.
What do you like most about your job?
I like knowing that I’ve helped someone at the end of a call.

What was your first job?
I worked at a small candy shop in a mall. The owner would make a lot of the candies and (of course) I tasted them all.
Do you have any hobbies or interests you’d like to share?
Family time is everything to me, so I spend as much time as I can with them. We gather for almost anything – dinners, BBQs, glamping, and movie nights.
Tell us a little about your family.
My husband (Dan) and I are empty nesters. We have a son (Daniel), who is married and has a child. He is a mechanic (can you guess who we take our cars to?). Our daughter (Veronica) works for a construction company as an assistant project manager. We have a dog named Bear, who is a Shih-poo. He is my shadow.
What piece of advice would you give to your younger self?
Everything’s going to be ok. All the stress isn’t worth it.
